A symbol is something such as an object, picture, written word, sound, or particular mark that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention. For example, a red octagon may be a symbol for "STOP". On maps, crossed sabres may indicate a battlefield. Numerals are symbols for numbers (amounts). All language consists of symbols. Personal names are symbols representing individuals. OverviewPsychology has found that people, and even animals, can respond to symbols as if they were the objects they represent. GNU Free Documentation License How does wearing religious symbols like the headscarf or skullcap infringe the rights of others? Q. What is the logic behind the reasoning that people are pressurized in to wearing the symbol for them self? I am having a bit of difficulty trying to understand the other side of this debate. I mean why is it that the French government, although they have regard themselves as secularists, have banned such symbols as outlined as a fundamental freedom, which is clearly seen in article 9.
